SCMP Business Awards 2025 – Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

This FAQ is intended to support nominators, communications teams, and organizational representatives preparing submissions for the SCMP Business Awards.

What kind of supplementary information should be submitted?

We welcome a broad range of supporting materials that help illustrate the nominee’s achievements, impact, and leadership. These may include business performance highlights, media coverage, client or stakeholder testimonials, case studies, awards or recognitions, ESG or CSR reports, and documentation of product or service innovation. There is no prescribed format. Participants are encouraged to submit materials that best reflect their story and contribution.

Can the turnover or revenue amounts specified in the award requirements include figures from markets outside Hong Kong?

Yes. Revenue may be derived from multiple markets as long as the company is registered or listed in Hong Kong.

    Who can be a nominator?

Anyone whose role or relationship provides meaningful insight into the achievements, character, or impact of the individual or organization being nominated.

    Are financial statements required?

Financial statements are not required. We recognize that confidentiality and compliance protocols vary across organizations, and we aim to be inclusive in the types of supporting documentation accepted. If provided, financial information can offer helpful context around growth, sustainability, or innovation. Participants are invited to share what they feel is appropriate and relevant.

Can you provide samples of past submissions?

Due to confidentiality, we do not share previous submissions. However, strong entries typically combine a clear and compelling narrative with relevant supporting evidence—whether qualitative or quantitative—to substantiate the nomination.

    What is the judging process?

Submissions are reviewed by a panel of regional business leaders, industry experts, and SCMP editorial representatives. Judges assess entries independently before convening to deliberate. Final decisions are made collectively, with emphasis placed on impact, innovation, and leadership.

When will award winners be announced?

Award winners will be notified directly and announced publicly by the end of November 2025. Updates will also be published on the SCMP Business Awards website.

Is there a fee to enter?

No. All nominations and submissions are free of charge.

    When is the awards ceremony?

The awards ceremony will take place in December 2025. Final details will be announced in due course.

Are there any additional fees for marketing or promotion for award winners?

No, there are no mandatory fees associated with winning the SCMP Business Awards. All winners will be featured as part of SCMP’s editorial and awards coverage across its platforms.

SCMP may offer optional marketing or advertising packages for organizations that wish to further amplify their recognition through branded content, sponsored features, or extended visibility. These opportunities are entirely voluntary and have no influence on the judging process or outcome.

Can SCMP assist with structuring or advising on our award submission?

To ensure fairness and impartiality, SCMP does not provide guidance or strategic advice on individual award submissions. All participants are encouraged to present their achievements and impact in a manner that best reflects their organization’s story. The judging process is designed to assess entries independently and equitably.

What is the best way to communicate with the SCMP team regarding the awards?

Email is the official and preferred channel for all communications related to the SCMP Business Awards. This ensures transparency and maintains a clear record of correspondence. For inquiries, please contact the SCMP Awards team at ba@scmp.com

How recent should the examples or supporting materials be?

We encourage participants to include examples and supporting materials that are as recent as possible to reflect current impact, innovation, and leadership. However, we understand that reporting cycles, compliance protocols, and financial calendars vary across organizations. As such, we leave it to the discretion of participants to determine the most relevant and representative timeframe for their submission. The emphasis should be on illustrating meaningful outcomes and contributions, regardless of the specific date.
